1. Alibaba is inviting businesses to test its ChatGPT-competitor Tongyi Qianwen.

2. Elon Musk and other leaders say to pause AI development research for 6 months.

3. Y Combinator’s Winter 2023 Demo Day Batch Features 60 AI and Machine Learning Startups.

4. India opts against AI regulation.

5. Italy blocked ChatGPT due to data protection concerns, and asked OpenAI to prove that it’s not violating GDPR.

Worth Analyzing 📈

The future of generative AI looks promising as funding continues to increase in this field. With more resources, researchers and developers can further improve the accuracy and sophistication of generative AI models, enabling them to create more complex and realistic content.

Generative AI is already being used in various industries, such as healthcare, finance, and entertainment, to improve efficiency and productivity. With the increasing adoption of generative AI in these industries, we can expect to see even more use cases emerge in the future.

However, there are also concerns about the ethical implications of generative AI which have been observed in the ban of ChatGPT in Italy recently. As generative AI becomes more advanced, it is crucial to ensure that these systems are used ethically and responsibly, and that appropriate measures are taken to address issues of accountability and control.

Overall, the future of generative AI looks bright, and as funding increases, we can expect to see even more innovative and practical applications of this technology emerge in the years to come.

Venture Deals in Canada? 🍁

1. Nulogy, which provides software solutions for supply chain collaboration, has raised $20 million CAD.

2. PureFacts Financial Solutions, a wealthtech startup has acquired Xtiva Financial Systems as part of the former’s growth strategy for its revenue management solutions.

3. RealSage, a proptech startup has closed $2.1 million CAD ($1.6 million USD) in pre-seed funding to fuel its North American expansion and product development plans.

4. Carbon Neutral Club has raised $1.4 million CAD in seed capital to mine what the startup views as a largely “untapped resource” for corporate climate pledges.

5. Birdseye, artificial intelligence (AI) startup has secured $500,000 in pre-seed funding as part of its mission to help e-commerce businesses automate their marketing workflows.

6. Eli, a four-year-old Montréal startup that provides real-time insights into hormone levels through saliva testing, raised a $3.7 million seed round.

7. Agnostiq, a five-year-old Toronto startup that uses quantum technologies to help organizations solve mission-critical tasks, raised a $6.1 million seed extension round.

8. LayerZero Labs, a Vancouver-based messaging protocol developer, raised $120 million in Series B funding.

9. Brizo Data, québec City-basedhas secured over $12 million CAD for its Series A round as it looks to “become the source of truth on the foodservice and hospitality industries.”

10. Felix Raises, Toronto based startup raised $18M CDN to Scale On-Demand Treatment for Everyday Health.
